Xbox 360 Sales Reach 17.7 Million

According to data released by Microsoft, sales have reached 17.7 million since its launch more than 2 years ago in 2005. The fourth quarter of 2007 accounted for 4.3 million of these sales. Microsoft also noted the success in game sales such as Halo 3 which sold 8.1 million copies since launch and Mass Effect with sales of 1.6 million since November. The company have also pointed at statistics that the Xbox 360 has generated far more sales of games and accessories than rival consoles.
Despite the hardware problems with the Xbox 360 consoles, Microsoft have seen good sales. The company has counted on its Xbox Live online service to set its console apart from others for which it has 10 million subscribers. The service lets players download games, as well as tv shows and movie rentals.
Microsoft have also told the Dow Jones this week that it expects strong sales in 2008.
