Xbox 360 Price Cut Means Cheapest Prices Yet
4th Aug 08
Microsoft have steadily been reducing prices for its Xbox 360 consoles but numerous reports suggest that we are in for yet another price cut.
The Xbox 360 Arcade console is rumoured to be having its price slashed to $199 in the US during September, making the UK price around £100. Respectively the Xbox 360 Premium and Elite versions will retail at $299 and $399 respectively, making them £150 and £200.
As we head towards the Christmas season, these new price cuts for the Xbox 360 consoles could prove very attractive, and could see a huge boost in sales.
If rumours are to be believed, Microsoft's latest move may spark off price wars with Nintendo and Sony, forcing them to retaliate with price cuts for the Wii and PS3 consoles.
The Wii console is still the most popular and cheapest gaming console on the market and continues to fly off the shelves worldwide. If Nintendo thinks that Microsoft's lower priced Arcade console poses a threat, we could see the first small price cut on Nintendo's all-conquering console.
The PS3 console however, may struggle to lower prices in the near future. Sony plans to discontinue its 40GB PS3 console when the 80GB version becomes available later this month.
As always these price cuts and console wars are good news for the consumer as the big names strive to make their offers more attractive.
