Wii Console Sales Reach Nearly 30 Million

The increasing popularity of the Wii console continues as Nintendo announce sales of 29.72 million units worldwide for the period ended 30th June 08. The company are optimistic about future sales of their family friendly Wii console which is now selling more than Microsoft’s Xbox 360, which went on the market a year before the release of the Wii in November of 2006. Updated sales figures for the Wii which sold 5.17 million for the quarter are up by 1.7 million units compared with the first quarter of last year.
The motion sensitive driven gameplay has proven to be a massive hit with families contributing to the success of the Wii console.
It would seem that the Wii console is set to be around for sometime as Nintendo have confirmed that they are already thinking about the Wii's successor.
