Wii Fit Stock - Nintendo's MTV Statement

Many Wii owners looked forward to the launch of the incredibly popular game Wii Fit, but probably didn't realise they would have to wait so long to get a copy. To make matters worse, many retailers are no longer selling Wii Fit as a standalone game but rather as a Wii Fit bundle which forces the customer to shell out even more. In addition to that, many retailers who are selling the Wii Fit game on its own, have raised their prices to well above the intended RRP.
So what can Nintendo tell us about these stock shortages and when will consumers be able to just walk into a store and pick up a copy?
In a statement to MTV, a Nintendo spokesman said:
"Nintendo had a substantial supply nationwide for launch, though some stores saw spot shortages due to unprecedented demand for this unique product. The consumer response to 'Wii Fit' at launch was historically exceptional when compared with peripheral-based video game products. We are providing retailers with a constant supply of 'Wii Fit,' so you should see a regular supply of 'Wii Fit' on store shelves as we move through the summer and into the holidays."
More Wii Fit stock may help lower prices and enable customers to buy the game closer to the £69.99 RRP without being bundled with other, possibly unwanted games. The festive season is is just a few short months away now, so the extra demand may well eat up the extra stock being provided.
Lets hope Nintendo can keep up, as demand soars worldwide in the coming months!
