uDraw Game Tablet - Info with UK Price Comparison

The UDraw Game Tablet
The UDraw game tablet is a new and exciting peripheral for the Nintendo Wii console. Designed by THQ, the UDraw device is a Nintendo approved product that has been in development for 3 years. UDraw will teach children how to draw and paint creatively and much more. Three launch games will include the UDraw Studio, Pictionary and platform game, Dood’s Big Adventure. UDraw Studio is an expansive art based game that will come bundled with the game tablet when it is released this year, allowing budding artists to have fun creating their own masterpieces with it. The UDraw Studio has a well-stocked paintbox with players being able to select from a series of themed backdrops to draw on, and a number of tools, such as airbrushes, crayons and sponges. UDraw Studio is very easy to use; pushing down on the pen makes it draw but it can also be used as a pointing device to select things. Scribbles can also be deleted one by one with the Wii remote's minus button, and squeezing the B button pulls up the art pallette.

Robust in Design
Made of chunky white plastic, the UDraw device measures just four-by-six inches and makes drawing as natural an input into the system as punching and pointing. It’s powered entirely by your standard Wii remote controller, which slots neatly into the side of the tablet, giving users a range of buttons along with the robust pen-stylus that comes attached to the system. THQ maintains that the UDraw tablet contains pretty much the same chip as a much more professional drawing tablet and the pen's pressure sensitive tip makes it operate exactly like the Wacom tablets used by architects and the like.

UDraw Launch Games
Although drawing is the UDraw's primary use, THQ have expanded on this with two launch games. Dude's Big Adventure is a platform-style game in which players need to draw objects, to take out enemies and progress through each level. Pictionary, a digital version of the original game, has a few twists outside of the usual gameplay with quirks such as a rotating screen as users attempt to draw, or players having to communicate clues to team mates in set shapes or straight lines. The two UDraw games, Pictionary and Dude's Big adventure will be launched at the same time as the UDraw tablet and will be priced at around £20 each. The UDraw Game Tablet price itself is expected to be around fifty pounds and the official launch date has been confirmed in the UK for 4th March 2011. THQ has high hopes and a long-term plan for the UDraw game tablet with titles already scheduled in up to 2013.
