New 60GB Xbox 360 Offers More Than Just Memory Upgrade
8th Aug 08
The new 60GB version of the Xbox 360 console is now out in the US with numerous reports saying that as well as the memory upgrade, some internal changes have been made. It would seem that the latest addition of the Xbox 360 offers greater protection against the dreaded red ring of death. Microsoft appears to have removed the memory chips from the underside of the motherboard so as to prevent potential overheating. The powerpack has also been updated and is now smaller and lighter than previous versions.
Microsoft have also included extra peace of mind with a one year express warranty and a three year warranty for red ring issues associated with their Xbox 360 consoles.
Apart from that, no obvious changes to the outside shell, except a few updated markings to show off the new hard drive capacity.
The price of the 20GB Xbox 360 has now been lowered and the 60GB model has been put in its place at the $349 price point in the US.
Microsoft havent given details of when the new 60Gb Xbox 360 will be available to buy in the UK, but these details are expected later.
